DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SCREEN!!!

Hallucinatory Playing Cards - QueenThe Hallucinatory Deck of Playing Cards is being funded right now on Kickstarter and this is sure to be a deck worth checking out. It’s already past it’s funding goal of $4000 but there’s only 6 days left to go before funding closes so I’d get in there quick if I were you.

The makers, Newt’s Playing Cards, have used psychedelic yellows, greens and pinks coupled with glow-in-the-dark inks to make this one extra special deck. There are pipes, googly eyes, crazy patterns and barcodes on both the front and back of these cards with a dazzling black background, making them super weird to look at and nearly impossible to stare at for too long before becoming nauseous. {How they ever expect anyone to get through a game of Gin Rummy I’ll never know….. sigh..}

As a huge fan of all uncut sheets, I particularly like this one – especially since it too is available with glow-in-the-dark inks. How amazing would this look in any den, games room or man-cave?

AND, as someone who is also slightly obsessed with ‘tins’ (leave me alone, aren’t we all??) I was delighted to be able to add these beauties onto my own pledge…

Not only are these tins available as add-ons, but there are also t-shirts, dice (glow-in-the-dark), poker chips, AND you can send in a photo and get it printed on one of your decks along with any wording of your choice!!

I will naturally be posting a full review of these cards once I receive my delivery, but in the meantime, I hope this little taster has whetted your appetite. If you’re interested in getting in on the funding, then click on any image to be taken straight to the Kickstarter project page.

Hallucinatory Playing Cards - Back and Jokers

I’d love to know what you think of this deck. Do you like it or is it making your eyes burn? It’s ok if it is, because that’s the effect the makers actually wanted, so they’ll be very happy :D

    Your website is a real feast for the eyes….love the use of graphics here. As for the deck here, yes I do like them, but probably more as a collectible item, I think, rather than using them. I imagine I may become hypnotized and lose my concentration somewhat. Keep up the good work!

      And maybe lose your money too, you’re thinking eh…? Hehe!! That’s actually not a bad idea… I’ll use these in my next poker night. See if it helps :)

      Hahahaaa!!! Matt, I knew you’d get a kick out of these!! :D Yes, they’re on Kickstarter right now, but you’ll sometimes be able to get decks afterwards (ebay etc) though you’d usually be paying a lot more for them. If I was you I’d get in on the funding ;)

    hi there!
    well that is quite the original deck of cards! I like the deck itself but the whole sheet was a bit much. Although I actually really like the design, it did make me feel slightly nauseated…But such an original design! And maybe I missed it, but what is the funding for?

      Hi Emily – I guess the designers got the reaction from you that they wanted, the deck is intended to hurt your eyes and make you feel sick (it’s a kind of joke-theme to the deck). So they’ll be very happy with that :D The deck is on Kickstarter at the moment, which is a fund raising platform for anyone who has anything really that they want to raise funds to be able to produce. I’ve done a brief post that should explain things better for you. Thanks for your comment :)
